Second Half Schedule Is Set
2016 Spring Schedule

Thursday, January 7th - The Richmond Rugby Football Club is pleased to announce their remaining 2015-16 fixtures! The club's slate will feature four home dates, four away dates, a make-up fixture and a tentative trip to the island for an interlock game against a VIRU opponent to be named later. The season is condensed considerably - starting full league games January 23rd and ending on April 9th - and the BC Finals Weekend is set to be completed on the weekend of April 30th (just in time for our yearly contingent of Missoula, Montana-bound Maggot-festers to sneak over the border!)

After a tough conclusion to the first half of the season, the boys will look to start 2016 off on the right foot as they battle Meralomas Second XV at Connaught Park in a make-up game between two teams in the hunt for a Lower Mainland 2nd Division playoff spot. (*Note: the game is not listed on the above schedule - but kick-off time and other details will be announced in the coming days - along with an announcement of a "road-game" club night sponsored by Caffe Barney on Granville!

Both divisions will then open at home against United RFC in the Cavu Kitchen Bar home-opener Saturday, January 23rd against the Tri-cities' team. The clubs split a pair of games in November at Hume Park in New Westminster, while Richmond swept United at home in October - so both teams will look to prove their dominance in this tilt.

Richmond book-ends their February 6th BYE weekend with dates on the road at Crush Crescent in Langley (January 30th) and at home, in the Milltown Bar & Grill match-day event (February 13th) against Abbotsford RFC.

Finishing up February's dates are games at Sullivan Heights in Surrey versus the Beavers (February 20th) and a quick-turn-around rivalry match against Langley RFC at King George Park. Langley and Richmond tied 0-0 in their Second XV contest in October - hopefully the 2016 version will put some numbers on the scoreboard!

March 5th sees Richmond pack up their gear and make the drive to Abbotsford for their second fixture of 2016 against the Fraser Valley powerhouses - ending a rapid fire, four games in four weekends, all against formidable opponents sitting above the RRFC's First XV in the standings! The lads will likely go into their short layoff knowing their playoff fortunes in both divisions.

Speaking of extended breaks, the electrifying World Rugby 7's stop in Vancouver sees all club Level sides dormant on the weekend of March 12th - allowing for a maximum amount of spectators at the BC Place-hosted event. The following Saturday sees the RRFC taking their second Bye-weekend of the half - allowing for the club to travel across the Georgia Strait to take on an island opponent for the first time in nearly 3 years on March 19th.

After the March 26th Easter weekend holiday, Richmond will have a game on the road in South Surrey (Bayside - April 2nd) and then finish up the Spring 2016 calendar the way they started it: against the Meralomas of Vancouver, this time at King George Park on April 9th! The final home-game will also double as the RRFC's Community Day celebration - honouring our alumni and fans with a day of fun and excitement!

More details can be found on our schedules page. As always our match-day refreshments will be served by Russell Brewing, and our community partner Legion #291 will be hosting all home-game after-matches!
